Friday, Cheryl Burke and Cody Rigsby announced they’d be competing on Monday’s Britney Spears-themed episode from home as they recovered from COVID-19.
"Dancing with the Stars" judge Derek Hough is taking precautions after being exposed to the coronavirus
Burke announced in a video posted to Instagram last Sunday that she tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. “I just hope I didn’t spread it,” she wrote, adding, “for those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s f–king real, dude.”
Peloton instructor Rigsby’s case was his second in 2021.
“While I am fully vaccinated and took many precautions, following CDC guidelines, I recently tested positive for COVID-19,” the 34-year-old shared on Instagram Thursday. “To properly rest and recover as well as avoid exposing others, I will be taking a break in the coming days. I appreciate all your support and I’ll be back as soon as I am ready.”
Monday’s show was planned as a tribute to Britney Spears, with Rigsby and Burke’s jazz routine set to “Gimme More.” A source exclusively told Page Six Monday that Spears, 39, is “aware” of the tribute, but as of Monday evening, she was focused on thanking her #FreeBritney supporters on Instagram rather than commenting on the proceedings.
